Last Woman on Earth

Poetry, Deanna Whitlow

So today,

I want only good-smelling things.

Coffee brewed over a cinnamon stick,

Sandalwood perfume on a days-old turtleneck,

My mother's rosewater tea,

My father's pine candles,

The sea,

the sea,

the sea,

and sleep.
